How to Host a Vision Board Party

Creating a vision board is such a fun way to spark new creative ideas. I love the way a vision board helps me stay in touch with my intentions and goals, but I also love sharing the process with friends. Hosting a vision board party is a great way of bringing people together, getting their creativity flowing (whether they think they are ‘creative’ or not), and starting inspiring conversations.

What’s a vision board?

A vision board is a useful, creative tool for helping you take charge of your dreams and stay focused on them. Having a vision board on display creates a strong visual reminder of your deeper wishes and desires, and can help you persevere through challenges. A vision board will come in handy whether you’re setting new year goals, planning a big event, trying to manifest something special into your life, or even just wanting to breathe new life into a project.

How to host your own party

Hosting your very own vision board party is not only fun and transformative for everyone you invite, but it’s also a great way to network, set goals and intentions, and create shared accountability.

Here are my 3 top tips for hosting a successful vision board party:

1. Choose a theme

It’s helpful to give your guests a theme to work towards. You might consider handing out worksheets before everyone gets started that include a list of areas to focus on, for instance; relationships, career and creativity. If you’re hosting at the start of a year you could focus on words or goals for that year, or perhaps there is a specific question you want your guests to answer via their boards, like “If I wasn’t afraid, what would I decide to create?

2. Create a menu

Creating a vision board takes some time and patience, so make sure your guests feel looked after with some nourishing food. But it doesn’t have to be complicated! Because there’ll be a lot of cutting and crafting going on, a simple and snacky menu is the way to go - think healthy dips, bread sticks, fruit and cheese.

Don’t forget to add some chocolate squares or sweet treats, and of course a small selection of drinks too!

3. Gather your supplies

It helps to have all of your materials on the table and ready to go so that your guests can just start creating their boards whilst they are sitting and talking. For extra flair, you might want to consider laying out the materials by colour category to make the table look even prettier.

Here’s what you will need:

  • Poster boards (or something sturdy and thick enough to stand up and hold the many items that might be going onto them)
  • Magazines - grab a decent supply and a wide variety of types so everyone has plenty to flick through, cut and draw inspiration from
  • Craft supplies - which should definitely include scissors, glue and tape, but also stickers or inspirational quotes/postcards, ribbon, letters or numbers, glitter, colour/paint samples and a selection of coloured card or paper

Combining all of the above with a great playlist will effortlessly create a unique evening for your guests. You never know what light bulb moments might come out of hosting a vision board party. There’s power in sitting down to create your intentions like this in a visual way, but that power is amplified in a group setting and everyone will get so much out of the experience.

We’d love to hear how your party went. Let us know in the comments!
