Halloween Table Styling
Full of magic and fun, Halloween is one of my favourite times of the year.
As the nights get longer, what better way to inject some sparkle and colour back into your life than inviting friends to gather around the table for a nourishing Halloween feast!
I wanted to put a decadent spin on this look and move away from the more traditional orange-led themes, which also makes this look perfect for any autumnal get together, not just Halloween.
For a luxurious, feminine feel I paired some of our smartest crockery with rich, opulent hues from our glassware, and dressed the table with gorgeous fresh flowers and seasonal fruit.
Perfect for a grown-ups-only dinner and super simple to pull together, keep reading for how to recreate this stunning look (and for an incredible recipe too).
HOW TO LAY YOUR TABLE
1. MAKE YOUR PLACE SETTINGS POP
Start by laying out your tablecloth. I used a gorgeous piece of fabric with an autumnal design, but this look will be just as eye catching on a wooden or plain table. I gave each place setting that eye-catching contrast by using black place mats, and layering our Black Beaded & Charcoal Plates on top of our pretty pink Marshmallow Dinner Plates to really make the colours pop. Mix and Match our Amity Cutlery in Jet Silver and Jet Gold and snip some gold ribbon, tie little bows and place one on each plate to complete the look. (You can also add napkins either on top or to the sides of the plates - play around with the colour scheme and make it your own with golds, pinks or purples). Our Ruby Jewel tumblers and matching wine glasses are the perfect glassware pairing for this tablescape.
2. DRESS WITH SEASONAL PRODUCE
I wanted to complement the rich, deep hues of this look so I opted for aubergines, figs and red grapes and scattered them along the middle of the table. However, the sky's the limit here, so if you want to add in brighter pops of colour then use things like Munchkin pumpkins, pomegranates or your other favourite seasonal fruits and veggies. Flowers are an additional way to add colour and style, so snipping some of your favourite stems will make your table instantly more inviting. I opted for some beautiful chrysanthemums and roses and used a variety of vintage vases and bottles to make some pretty arrangements.
3. DON'T FORGET THE CANDLES!
A traditional Halloween ritual involved lighting candles around the house as a way to guide lost spirits home. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, I don't think a Halloween soirée would be complete without plenty of shimmering candles. For extra atmosphere I added tealights to our Ruby Jewel Tumblers and scattered them along the centre of the table.
DANI'S TIP:
This look is so versatile it really is all about having fun with it and making it your own. As an alternative colourway for your place settings, try making your top plate a deep crimson or purple, and adding a napkin in a lighter shade of pink.
And if you're looking for the perfect dinner dish to serve on this table, look no further than this ultimate comfort food recipe, our Butternut Squash Rigatoni (it's so good!)
