Set the Table for International Women’s Day
The perfect excuse to gather the girls, we’re celebrating International Women’s day by bringing you some innovative party inspiration.
For an interactive table that everyone will want a seat at, this is a simple, pretty and fun way to help you celebrate the women in your life who inspire, accept and lift you up!
All you’ll need is:
- Some paper
- Post-it notes
- And a selection of coloured marker pens
How to set your table
1. CREATE FOCUS WITH A QUOTE
Using quotes as a centrepiece is a great way to create talking points and draw focus to your theme. You can use anything that takes your fancy, but for a powerful day like this one, we thought what better quote than “She Believed She Could So She Did”. Download as a pdf here, print out in A4, and place one in the centre of every 4-6 place settings, depending on your table size.
2. ADD SOME INTERACTIVE DECOR
Put out a selection of coloured post-it notes and pens (vary depending on your colour scheme) and encourage your guests to scribble down messages of hope or quotes they find inspiring. You might want to start things off by having a few already written out to start the ideas flowing. Some of our favourites are things like “Stronger Together”, “Dream Big” and “Just Be You”.
3. FINISH YOUR PLACE SETTINGS
We decided to make things pop with our pretty green glass plates finished with contrasting candy-pink napkins and glasses, and some mix and matched pieces from our Shimmer cutlery range. Whatever colours you choose, ensure each of your place settings has its very own post-it note pad and coloured pen on the plate.
4. DON'T FORGET THE TUNES!
It wouldn’t be International Women’s Day without an impromptu dance party to an all-woman playlist. We love this one on Spotify.
Some other ways to celebrate this day are:
- Donate or volunteer your time to an organisation that supports women and girls
- Raise awareness around this year’s theme #EmbraceEquity
- Read a book or poem by a woman writer with your kids and discuss
- Shop from women-owned or women-led businesses
And remember to take the time to celebrate yourself too! :)
From all of us here at The Social Kitchen, Happy International Women’s Day to everyone out there who is doing their bit to drive positive change for women worldwide!
We’d love to hear how your International Women’s Day event goes. Let us know in the comments!
