Perfect Passover Charoset
RECIPES BY THE SOCIAL KITCHEN VOL:1
We all think our own Charoset recipe is the best, but let me tell you I think this one is totally delicious!
The sticky, granular mixture of fruit and nuts is meant to resemble the mortar that the Jews used to build Egyptian buildings of the time.
The secret ingredient that makes this extra-delicious is caramelised pecans :)
MAKES A LARGE BOWL PREP TIME: 10 MIN
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 apple, peeled, cored and finely chopped
- 70ml red wine
- 1 matzah, crushed up
- 50g caramelised pecans, roughly chopped up
- 1 clementine, zest and juice
- ½ tsp of cinnamon
- 2 tbsp ground almonds
- 1 medjool date, stone removed & roughly chopped
METHOD:
- Add all the ingredients to a bowl and give it a good mix.
- Taste and add extra spice, clementine or even some more wine if needed.
- To serve, transfer to your favourite dish and serve on your Passover table with plenty of Matzo.
Enjoy!
P.s...Using the same ingredients I’ve also made it into a yummy salad that I will be eating on repeat and I hope you'll be joining me - click here for that recipe!
