10 OF THE COOLEST PARTY BARS

The bar is everyone’s favourite spot at a wedding or party. Creating a fun and innovative bar immediately gives your guests a point of focus and something to talk about. Whether it’s a small one at the side of the room or a party centre piece, when done correctly, guests will be crowding around while snapping pictures on their iPhones.

I always think that attention to detail is key to throwing an event that stands out. With my sister’s wedding plans well underway, I’ve had lots of ideas for this. Here are a couple I’d like to share:

DOUGHNUT BAR

Use a shelving unit to display your donuts, like so. It gives the event a fun and quirky feel and is totally unexpected.

POPCORN BAR

Provide buckets of plain popcorn and have the flavourings separate, ready to scoop into personalised bags. DIY is always fun!

PAPER BAGS

Use personalised paper bags, for popcorn or sweets. These can also be filled with sand and a tea light for decoration.

COFFEE BAR

Everyone loves – and needs – coffee. We see lots of coffee tables at weddings and other functions, but why not make yours extra special? It’s good to provide a range of milk and sugar options, as well as cinnamon and chocolate powder. The key to a good coffee bar is to get very creative in the presentation!

BAGEL BAR

Present a selection of flavoured bagels and serve platters of smoked salmon, tuna mix, pickles, cream cheese, thinly sliced onions and lemons.

S’MORES BAR

A childhood memory, which everyone gets excited about! Make sure you have all of the components: marshmallows, chocolate and crackers. You can build your own stove by putting stones in a trough and light it with oil lamps

ICE CREAM BAR

Provide simple flavours like chocolate and vanilla. The toppings are the fun part. Sprinkles, chocolate shavings and chopped hazelnuts go down a treat! I also like to include chocolate, toffee and strawberry sauce.

BLOODY MARY BAR

People go wild for a Bloody Mary, particularly at a day party. Mix up pitchers of tomato juice, lemon juice and horseradish for a base. The rest you can leave to your guests. Provide Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, salt, pepper, celery salt, lemon wedges, olives on toothpicks and celery sticks to garnish. Vodka or Gin work best for Bloody Mary’s.

PIZZA BAR

You can either make this kind of bar – MAKE YOUR OWN PIZZA – This only works if you have access to an oven behind the bar. Roll out the pizza dough and leave for your guests to add their favourite toppings. Provide a selection of grated cheeses, olives, anchovies, chopped ham and sausage, basil, artichoke, asparagus and any others you can think of!

However, you could just have pizzas made for you and have a blackboard with all the different toppings listed on the board.

PROSECCO BAR

Adding flavour to your Prosecco is always fun. Provide jars of fruit such as strawberries, raspberries and lime wedges and a selection of fruit cordials. Encourage your guests to pimp their Prosecco!
