A foodies bank holiday trip to London
We’ve all got busy lives and constantly find ourselves living from holiday to holiday. Sometimes we forget to explore the places we live in. London is one of the best cities in the world. I put together a collection of things to do over Bank Holiday weekend. Catch them while you can!
Foodies Festival, Syon Park
The UK’s biggest food festival, where you can watch MasterChef’s 2017 winner, Saliha Magmood-Ahmed cook live. You’ll also see Great British Bake Off Winner, Candice Brown and Michelen star chefs, Atul Kochhar and Gary Foulkes amongst others. This is not one to miss, dear foodies!
27th, 28th, 29th May.
Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre
One of my favourite things to do in London (weather permitting). Currently showing ‘On The Town’ a Leonard Bernstein musical set in New York, which promises extreme dance numbers. I can’t wait! I always take a picnic with me to have while we sit on the lawn just outside the theatre waiting to go in.
Neverland London
Neverland is an urban beach in Fulham. Alfesco BYOB and street-food dining on South West London’s very own white sandy beach. It even has palm trees, pastel painted beach huts, deck chairs and day beds, which make it hard to believe it’s really in London! Street food traders include Le Rac Shack, The Duck Truck and Taco Dave. You can also create your own cocktails. Sounds like a fun day – or holiday – out!
Open Mon-Weds 12noon-8pm, Thurs-Fri 12 noon-9pm, Sat 11am-9pm and Sun 11am-7pm (Bank Holiday Monday 12noon-7pm)
Royal Festival Hall, South Bank SE1 8XX
Pergola on the Roof – Shepherd’s Bush & Paddington
Rooftops are the perfect place to raise a glass. I find in London they are hard to come by so am always excited to add one to the roster. The sibling rooftop of the wildly successful Pergola in White City opens this Bank Holiday. It is an informal yet elegant suntrap to while away your weekend, as the sun shines over.
Details: Opening 3rd May | Television Centre, Wood Lane, Shepherds Bush, W12 7RJ
Details: Opening 24th May | 5 Kingdom Street, Paddington, W2 6PY
StrEATlife
Alexandra Palace will play home to a street food and craft beer festival, which boasts a collection of exciting, experimental food and drink traders and an impressive roster of live music. There will be a huge range of cuisines available to try. I’m particularly looking forward to this festival, as the traders are so innovatory. Cheeky Italian will be serving burgers and calzone fritters, whilst Crabbie Shack’s Lobster grilled cheese toastie sounds mouthwateringly delicious. After eating, you can drop by for one of Dash Concept’s Cocktails or a refreshing jug of Pimm’s and amble off to watch live music. This is the closest thing to a music festival without having to get knee deep in mud. Sounds like my kind of festival!
Chelsea Flower Show
London’s most elegant event. Whether or not you have green fingers, the beauty of the flower show will blow you away. For more on this read my blog. There are so many places in London that are in honour of this beautiful show dressing up their shop/restaurant windows to all compete for the best in show. Definitely worth a look.
